Fitting a top box to a Cross Cub 50

Cub-Top-Case-19

This time I want a top box on the Cross Cub 50. The box is a KTC Tool Box EKP-1A.

What I used: chrome hose clamps, 19 mm, and M4 x 35 screws.

First, find the position. Once it is right, hold it with tape.

Assemble the clamps loosely and mark the holes with a drill. I tried a scribe first. It did not work.

Drill the marks. Four clamps, two holes each.

Check the marks one more time. There is no room to get this wrong.

Then drill for real. Match the bit to the screw. Once the hole is through, check that the screw actually goes in.

Eight holes, like this.

A Daiso mat goes between the box and the carrier, cut to size, so it does not buzz or scratch.

A trial fit.

From underneath, the hose clamps lock the box to the carrier. A rubber sheet under each clamp stops vibration and scratches.

A rubber pad reinforces the screw on the box side.

Four of them, cut to the clamp and drilled for the screw.

The rubber sits between the screw and the box.

A second nut so it cannot work loose.

Caps over the screws that stick out.

Fitted.

It is excellent to use. Worth trying.
