1998 Triumph Daytona T595
I found it used at the shop where I had bought the Harley. The price was low, so I bought it without much thought. The next model was renamed 955i, so people often hear T595 and ask if I mean the 955. It is a minor model.
The only change was the exhaust, a carbon slip-on. Take the pillion seat off, fit the cover, and it is a single seat.
A three-cylinder for the first time felt like the useful parts of a twin and a multi. Strong, rough torque low down, and a multi-like rush higher up. The liquid-cooled triple makes 130 hp. Full throttle made my head swim, without the feeling that the bike was about to throw me away. The whole machine is well balanced.
I rode it to Osaka once. The lean is not that severe, and a long distance was less tiring than I expected. On the way a GPZ900 went past at a serious speed. I followed. The Triumph stayed planted, which surprised me. I do not expect to ride at that speed again. It was more power than I could use.
Nothing went wrong while I owned it. It changed what I thought a Triumph was.
